Submission to the galley can be done by email to the Observatory.
The submissions should meet the following requirements:
- They should be contributors’ own work;
- Their theme should be related to ocean weather, including “Cloud”, “Ocean”, “Weather Phenomenon”, “Atmospheric Optics” and “Celestial Objects”;
- The date, time and place of the submissions taken should be specified. Geotagged photos are particular great (normally, the geotag information is available on unmodified photos taken on a smartphone). Submissions taken outside Hong Kong are most welcome;
- Suggestions on a title or short description of the submissions in no more than 20 words can be provided. However, the suggested title or description may not adopted for display along with the submissions in the Gallery.
- While minor processing of submissions (such as brightness, contrast and saturation) is acceptable, they must genuinely reflect the actual weather situation.
- To ensure the quality of the submissions, they should be provided in JPEG format and the file size should be between 1MB to 5MB.
Under inclement weather, please beware of personal safety and avoid taking photos outdoors. Also pay attention to the weather information from the Observatory.
In general, when the photos are received, the Observatory’s staff will check whether they meet the requirements according to the information provided, photos’ quality and category. The photos can be uploaded to the galley within 10 working days after approval. The Hong Kong Observatory reserves the right to refuse to accept or delete any submissions in the Gallery without prior notice.
Interested persons please submit via email.
