The MyOceanWx Gallery shows photos of weather-related phenomena taken over the seas by the marine community on a Geographic Information System (GIS) platform. Currently, most of the photos were taken by ship captains and crew members on board the Hong Kong Voluntary Observing Ships (HKVOS) during their voyages around the world. The Hong Kong Observatory also welcomes members of public to share their weather photos taken onboard cruises and ferries on this platform. HKVOS footprints spread all over the world. The figure below shows the distribution of meteorological observations (green dots) contributed by HKVOS in 2017.
The photos on this gallery are not real-time images over the seas. They should only be used for reference and educational purposes and should not be used for real-time weather observation, weather forecast or navigation safety related purposes.
